Meanwhile, reports on Twitter suggest that two journalists were killed in a series of airstrikes in east of Gaza Strip on the 6th and 7th days of May, according to Al-Akhbar.

The Israeli military confirmed the reports, stating that the two journalists, whose identities were not released, were killed in an air strike in the eastern part of the Gaza Strip.

The Palestinian group Al-Akhbar reported that they were in an area where fighters were taking cover with a large group of civilians, when the Israeli strikes happened.

Sources in the international coalition to provide aid to Gaza said the news was not accurate and that Israel should compensate the families affected by the attack.

On 25 May, a large number of Israeli shells hit the residential area of Khan Yunis on Gaza coast, killing a child, her mother and several others.

The death toll from the shelling has risen to 13, most of them civilians.

More than 1,800 Palestinians, including nearly 300 children, have died since Israel resumed bombing in the Strip and Gaza in response to the assassination of Hamas Commander Khalil al-Qubais last Friday, which the Palestinians blamed for the deaths of 11 Israeli soldiers.

The deaths were the first in Gaza in two weeks after a cease-fire collapsed, sparking a renewed wave of violence.

Gaza is governed under Hamas control while Israel maintains the West Bank.

Gaza also has several refugee camps in the eastern Negev in close proximity to Israel, and a massive smuggling network, and it’s one of the main trade routes for Palestinian exports, including crude oil.

Palestinians in the Strip continue to lose territory to Israel, whose troops patrol Gaza’s borders at all times and carry out air strikes to clear them.

Greens leader is asking for an investigation following allegations of child abuse over three decades

A young woman has accused a former Liberal MP of groping and kissing her when she was 13, including touching her breasts in an attempt to establish sexual relationships with her.

Ms Gillard was the former NSW Liberal minister for indigenous affairs, when she made the allegations against former foreign affairs minister Peter Dutton in 1997. The Australian government refused to investigate the claim, but Mr Dutton resigned amid reports the allegations had been made before he took office.

Now The Nation journalist Peter Greste has published audio tapes from three different tapes of his meetings with Ms Gillard, and a summary of an interview he did with a woman claiming to be the “victim” who had made the claims of sexual abuse.

In her interview with Greste, the woman claimed the MP took up a position of power in her community while she was a student, when she was 10 years old.

“I was shocked and appalled by what I was hearing. I really did believe my life had been changed forever by it, having experienced it,” she told The Nation.

In her interview with Greste, the woman said she saw Ms Gillard for three days and went away once for school.

“She said a great deal about her job as minister. She said to me on three days, you should be proud of your job. You should be proud of what the government has done to our nation. She was making me feel a kind of relief that my life was not in flames. She was making me think, what could have happened? What did all of this have to do with what I’d been told all along?”

Ms Gillard denies the claims are true.

‘I was shocked and appalled by what I was hearing’

She did not reveal whether she saw the woman in person or in person with friends, but Greste said he discovered she had been speaking about the alleged incident in 2003 at the dinner party she organised, attended by senior Liberals and was accompanied by her daughter at the time.

It wasn’t until Mr Dutton accepted her claims that she was able to tell her mother that she had also received abuse.

“I didn’t realize it and when I did, I didn’t think she was the only one. It was really strange to know you had such a strong connection to a woman you didn’t know,” she said.

Gillard is being backed by an alliance of former government colleagues of former foreign affairs minister Paul Keating who also says the woman who first reported the claims told him she had been raped by a senior Liberal minister.
